Terrabio, a biotechnology company based in Wrocław, has developed the first mobile genetic analyser available in Poland. This device enables food manufacturers to rapidly detect viruses, bacteria, fungi, or protozoa.

The R&D phase is nearing completion, and the company is currently testing the device with potential customers. This marks a significant milestone in Terrabio’s development, as the device can now detect up to 12 pathogens in under two hours. A specialised application has been created to monitor and analyse outcomes. The device is designed for use in the industrial sector, particularly in the field of food safety, covering everyone from agricultural producers and processors to production facilities and suppliers. Swift pathogen detection helps prevent illnesses like salmonella and, most importantly, reduces the likelihood of product recalls and hefty fines. Currently, it can take up to two weeks to receive test results for some pathogens, but with Terrabio’s mobile and fast analyser, results can be obtained in a maximum of 90 minutes.

The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate is increasingly issuing warnings about harmful food, and Terrabio’s analyser can be a solution to improve the quality of food products. Additionally, it is suitable for testing water safety and has applications in veterinary medicine and meat processing.
