Eycore has signed a letter of intent with Creotech Instruments, the company announced at a press conference. The companies will collaborate on the design and construction of satellite platforms equipped with SAR radar instruments.

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is a technology that allows continuous observation of the Earth’s surface regardless of weather conditions or time of day. They also allow imaging at night and in cloudy conditions, which is a fundamental difference from optical instruments. This is important given that 70 percent of the Earth’s surface is covered by clouds at any given time. Radar imaging using SAR technology is used in many areas including agriculture, climate, forestry, defence and infrastructure. They are especially useful for monitoring climate change, forecasting and monitoring natural catastrophes, and planning natural resource extraction. It has also been used in military applications as well.

Eycore plans to launch its first designed SAR radar into low Earth orbit in the fourth quarter of 2025. This will be the culmination of several years of research and design work by engineers based at Eycore’s Polish space facility. Eycore will work with WSE-listed Polish company Creotech Instruments to build and place other radar systems in space. The companies have signed a memorandum of understanding under which Eycore will provide the radar instruments, while Creotech will provide the satellite platforms needed to launch them into orbit.
