Terrabio, a Wrocław-based startup developing a mobile genetic analyser, has received patent protection for its Terralyzer® device on the Polish market. Thanks to the legal protection granted, the startup will be able to significantly accelerate the commercialisation process of the product. The company is in the process of filing a patent application for Terralyzer® for the United States and the European Union.

Terrabio, thanks to the use of a proprietary diagnostic system, enables research in the field of agriculture and food safety through the rapid identification of pathogens or genetic mutations. The user will receive a semi-quantitative result on the presence of pathogens in a sample in just 60-90 minutes. The Terralyzer® allows the detection of up to 16 pathogens from a single sample. It is worth noting that the solution effectively reduces the cost of testing. The Terrabio solution is a response to increasing restrictions on the use of pesticides and concern for the quality of food produced within the European Union, as part of the European Commission’s ‘From Field to Fork’ strategy, which aims, among other things, to reduce pesticide use by 50 per cent and reduce fertiliser use to 20 per cent by 2030.
